PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) Is there are competition for the backup quarterback spot behind Ben Roethlisberger?
Pittsburgh Steelers' fans and media certainly think so.
Will it be Mason Rudolph or Dwayne Haskins? Or even Josh Dobbs who played well towards the end of the Hall of Fame Game?
93.7 The Fan's Jeff Hathron believes we will know as soon as this coming Thursday when the Steelers head to Philadelphia to face the Eagles.
Assuming Roethlisberger doesn't play the the second preseason game (he won't), if Rudolph starts he's got the No. 2 spot wrapped up for him.
If they go to Haskins for the start, maybe he has the upper hand.
Having the discussion over who is going to be the second string quarterback on a team seems like a non-story, but there is a lot at stake for the winner of the battle.
It means a much higher possibility of becoming the Steelers' starter as soon as next season.
The play between Haskins and Rudolph will ultimately determine who wins the position.
So far after one preseason game, the battle may be leaning in favor of Haskins.
Not that Rudolph played bad, but a pair of poor plays have been highlighted as negatives in his fight.
We have quite a few weeks before the official start of the 2021 NFL Season, but its possible we know the QB depth chart after just the second preseason game.
