PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – This could be a sign that Joey Porter, Junior won’t play in the season opener. The Steelers elevated corner Doneiko Slaughter from the practice squad for the game Sunday against Atlanta.
Signed by the Jags as an undrafted free agent last year, Steelers brought Slaughter in this winter and at times was noticeable at camp with his coverage skills. He was the Steelers fourth-leading tackler in the preseason with 10 (six solo) and a pass defensed.
He is also valuable on special teams.
The 6’, 190 pounder started 13 games his final season in college at Arkansas. He had seven passes defensed, 80 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
