Big Ben says he and Mason are not 'boys' but it rooting for him

Plus, did #7 take another shot at Mullsy?

Retired Steeles quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he is cheering for Mason Rudolph and it sounds like he took another shot at a Fan host.

During a livestream of his popular “Footbahlin” podcast, Roethlisberger was talking about recent comments from Brown veteran quarterback Joe Flacco essentially saying he isn’t in Cleveland to be a mentor to younger QBs like Kenny Pickett and rookie Shedeur Sanders.

“It’s the same thing like when the drafted Mason (Rudolph) . . . I made comments, I don’t even remember my comments, but it was like why did we draft Mason,” said Roethlisberger. “It wasn’t a shot at Mason, I didn’t have a problem with Mason. They could’ve drafted Patrick Mahomes.”

Roethlisberger went on to clarify he didn’t agree with finding a backup quarterback in the 3rd round (where Rudolph was picked) instead of plugging in holes to make the team better.

Roethlisberger also said that he and Rudolph are not friend or “boys” but “we don’t need to be though. But, I’m rooting for him. I want him to be successful.”

But it was Big Ben’s comments on the media that caught Joe Starkey’s ear.

“We think that Ben Roethlisberger may have taken, yet another shot, at Mullsy,” said Joe Starkey on Wednesday...with tongue-in-cheek . “It’s a thinly-veiled shot at our bald friend.”

“There’s going to be a lot of people that watch this and both fans and, I’m sure some media people pick up on this that will totally disagree, think everything I say is full of crap,” said Roethlisberger. “Most of them probably never played or been in the situation anyway, so it doesn’t really matter.”

Joe Starkey, Bob Pompeani and producer Austin all think Roethlisberger was talking about PM Team co-host Chris Mueller.

The Pomp & Joe Show thinks Mullsy is the target, but it’s up to you to you to decide what to think.
