As Pittsburgh anticipates a huge economic shot in the arm with the NFL Draft next year, we now know how much this past summer's U.S. Open brought to the region
The USGA says an independent report conducted by EventCorp found it meant $200 million in total output in Allegheny County alone, and roughly another $89 million for the rest of the state.
They say the US Open supported nearly 1,500 jobs.
“The 2025 U.S. Open showcased not only Oakmont’s enduring place in golf history, but also the powerful economic and community impact of bringing a global sporting event to western Pennsylvania,” said Mike Whan, CEO of the USGA. “Our partnership with the Commonwealth and the Pittsburgh region continues to thrive, and we’re proud that the U.S. Open continues to deliver meaningful benefits for residents, businesses and golf fans alike.”
Overnight visitors, spending on average 2.8 nights in the region, spent an average of $1,200 dollars per person.
Overall, the report says visitor spending alone accounted for over $111 million.
The U.S. Open returns to Oakmont Country Club in 2033.
