Twins slugger Miguel Sano staked his claim as MLB's home run distance leader on Wednesday night at Fenway Park.

The beefy power hitter tattooed a third-inning offering from Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta deep into the Boston night, apparently clearing a large Fanatics billboard in left-center field before the ball presumably crashed down somewhere on historic Landsdowne Street.

The 495-foot moonshot came off Sano's bat at a blistering 116.7 mph, according to MLB Stats, and tied Braves phenom Ronald Acuna Jr. for the longest homer recorded since the start of the 2020 season.

The majestic blast put Sano ahead of Padres outfielder Tommy Pham, who had recently taken the lead in homer distance with a 486-foot tape-measure shot in the thin air of Coors Field in Denver.

Sano, 28, has seen his share of struggles this season, batting just .217/.308/.460 overall on the year, but he has been far better of late, hitting a much more palatable .259/.363/.526 with 7 homers since the All-Star break. The round-tripper was Sano's 22nd on the year.

Most teams have somewhere around 35 games remaining in the regular season, so Sano's no-doubter has a decent chance of remaining atop the leaderboard by season's end.

The visiting Twins went on to win the game, 9-6, in 10 innings.
