Where would Sam Darnold rank among Steelers QB's on the roster anyway?

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The talk about Sam Darnold possibly becoming a Pittsburgh Steeler really heated up yesterday.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated’s MMQB commented on it, saying Darnold would make some sense for the Steelers depending on the asking price and FanDuel proposed a hypothetical trade in which the Steelers would trade their 2nd and 6th round picks this year in exchange for Darnold.

So, The Fan Morning Show took their crack at it Wednesday morning. First by asking, is this even feasible? Could it really happen? They agreed on this part of the discussion.

“I don't see it right now. The Dwayne Haskins flyer they took on him, it’s too many high round draft picks with visions that they would be starters in the NFL. That would be four in the same room,” said Colin Dunlap.

Chris Mack said, “I don’t think Kevin Colbert is interested because he’s been so clear in his preference for Mason Rudolph to be that next guy.”

Ok, so let’s play it out and pretend like it did happen and now Sam Darnold is in the mix at QB…

“Sam Darnold is better than Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins.
If you told me right now, I had the rest of the 21 players (playing with the starters on the Steelers roster) and I had to pick Mason Rudolph or Sam Darnold…I would pick Sam Darnold 100 times out of 10,” said Dunlap.

Chris is not on the same page.

“I would rank him third behind the other two to be quite honest.”

In disbelief, Colin laid out what Chris was saying just to make sure he heard him correctly. He would have them ranked like this: Rudolph, Haskins, Darnold. Chris said, “Absolutely.”

“Darnold has shown me that he’s just not processing quickly enough. Haskins has that problem to an extent too I think. I still believe Rudolph has a ton of untapped potential because he hasn’t had a legitimate offensive coordinator to work for the last couple of years.

Sam Darnold might be on a terrible team, but he hasn’t helped that terrible team at all. I don’t think Sam Darnold has shown us anything, terrible circumstances around him or not, that he’s the guy even in a bad circumstance is going to figure things out. I put him much more right now on the Haskins wavelength and put him and Haskins behind Rudolph if you ask me to rank those three.”

What do you think? How would Darnold stack up against these other QB’s on the Steelers roster if he were really brought in?
