Game shows are designed to stress contestants into making funny mistakes for TV audiences.
Even the most practiced "Wheel of Fortune" player (and host for that matter!) may slip up under the glare of the studio lights, mixing up common phrases and idioms into laughable moments.
Good thing Pat Sajak is always there to comfort them and help everyone laugh it off.
To celebrate the game show's 45th birthday — it premiered on Jan. 6, 1975 — here are the funniest mistakes in answers from "Wheel of Fortune."
Hot Potato
Sorry, Lolita, the answer isn't "Self-Potato." At least she played off the moment well and laughed at her own mistake.
Fish Love
Hector wants to live in a world where everyone can feel the "Fish Love." Maybe after his 'Wheel' performance, there are a few more fish lovers out there.
Where We Go
This answer is in the running for most wrong based simply on its length. "Self Clay" sounds like a new beauty trend, but apparently it's where this contestant wants to go.
Johnny Brings the Wine
Johnny Cash's famed hit would be way more popular if it was "I Bring the Wine" instead of "I Walk the Line."
That's Not How You Mine
Kareem gave himself and the audience a good laugh suggesting "Miners & Hoes" in place of "Fingers & Toes," but he maybe doesn't know how mining works.
Only Children
This teacher guessed "An Ugly Child" in place of "An Only Child." Can't imagine her students appreciated the mix-up.
Right But Not Quite
It seems this contestant knew the right answer was "Exclusive Nightclub." She just didn't know how to spell it.
The Eighth Dwarf
We don't remember a dwarf named "Sneeky" from "Snow White," but maybe that's just because he was so elusive.
A Different Sort of Vacation
This contestant points out what everyone already knows about a beach vacation, preferring to "booze" her shore excursion as opposed to "book" it.
