Bachman’s passing was announced on Friday (4/28) by his son, Ryder, in a post on Facebook.

“My Dad passed this afternoon,” his son Ryder shared. “Thank you everyone for the kind words. Grateful I got to spend some time with him at the end. Grab yer loved ones and hug em close, ya never know how long you have.”

Tim was an off-and-on group member in its early stages, performing on their first two studio albums and then exiting in 1974, returning in 1984, and leaving again in 1988, before settling on a lucrative realty career in the 1990s. His brother, drummer Robbie, passed away in January 2023 at the age of 69. BTO’s remaining founding members include singer/songwriter Randy Bachman and bassist Fred Turner.

Ryder shared a longer message on Facebook saying that he had been contacted by his father’s hospital care unit earlier in the week advising him to “hurry, come say goodbye to him and pay my last respects," with possibly only hours to spare. “He had some complications and they rushed him to the emergency unit and found out he has cancer riddled all throughout his brain... It’s really hard watching your parent lay in bed helpless and sick and there’s nothing you can do to help them. Breaking my heart.”

Ryder was able, he said, to sit with his father and reminisce, and his dad, “at one point looked up at me with really, big wide eyes and said, ‘I love you Paxton, keep sharing the music…’”

"Love you Dad. Godspeed. When u cross over, say hi to Uncles Robbie n Gary for me and give Nanny & Pop a hug n kiss from me," he concluded. "I Love You. See you on the Otherside."
