New life has been given to the Tony Award winning musical "1776" from 1969 but the 2023 version is very different. Most of the characters are male but being played by a wonderful multiracial cast of female, transgender, and nonbinary actors all portraying the founding fathers of this country. It's got humor, passion, tears, cheers, energy and a little attitude too.

Liz Mikel plays Ben Franklin and talks about everything from what the play means to her, to what she's most passionate about portraying Ben Franklin to how much she loves L.A. (which makes us love her even more) and everything in between. So if you'd like to find out more or get tickets for “1776” they are now on sale and start at $40.
