Apple Valley school finds hidden camera on campus, staff member arrested

A staff member at an Apple Valley school was arrested after a hidden camera was found at the school, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

On Oct. 22, staff members at the Academy for Academic Excellence contacted investigators regarding a discovered hidden camera on campus, according to the press release. It is unclear where the camera was discovered.

A joint investigation conducted by the sheriff’s department and the Crimes Against Children led to the arrest of 63-year-old Kenneth Sockwell.

Sockwell was reportedly the school’s director of visual and performing arts, according to KTLA.

He was booked on into the High Desert Detention Center for possession of child pornography; however, the detention center website said he was released on bail. A court appearance has not been scheduled for him at this time.
