The FBI has set up a tip line and reward money to catch animal abusers in Los Angeles.
The tip line is LA-AnimalCrimesTipline@ic.fbi.gov.
The feds are offering a $5,000 reward for information or evidence that leads to convictions of animal abusers who are violating the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act.
“The law applies to all nonhuman mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians,” Ciaran McAvoy, a spokesperson for the US Attorney’s Office in L.A., told KNX News’ Emily Valdez. “I wouldn't necessarily say go so far as like you have to be witnessing it, but it can't just be just general - dogs are being abused, or cats are being mistreated or something like that. Everybody knows about it, you know? Like we need proof that we can put before a judge and a jury, and that would be strong enough to convict somebody in a court of law.”
