The fire was reported at around 1:05 a.m. in a 10,000-square-foot warehouse at 860 Truck Way where fire crews found the high-leaping flames had engulfed the building, KNBC 4 reported.
About 80 firefighters were deployed, including personnel from a half dozen additional agencies sent to assist the Montebello Fire Department, Alex Gillman, a spokesman with the Montebello FD, told Fox 11.
The firefighters went into a defensive mode, working to contain the flames to the structure and prevent them from spreading further. The fire was extinguished about 7 a.m., Gillman said.
One firefighter was injured and was treated at the scene, Fox 11 reported. Nearby railroad tracks were closed for a time as a precaution, and traffic was routed away from the area.
Hazardous-materials crews were sent to the scene, and investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire.
