Firefighters rescued six people who were trapped inside elevators at a high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles due to a power outage, authorities said Friday.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were called around 9:59 p.m. Thursday to 1260 S. Figueroa St., near Pico Boulevard, regarding an electrical outage at the 37-story building that caused all 14 elevators to become inoperable, said LAFD spokesman Nicholas Prange.

Firefighters systematically checked each elevator throughout the building and found the trapped victims.

After initially refusing treatment, paramedics took two men to a hospital with non-life-threatening medical complaints.

Power was subsequently restored at the high-rise, Prange said.
