Newsom alluded that as a San Francisco native he'll be throwing his support behind the Giants as he used the #BeatLA hashtag. He of course previously served as Mayor of San Francisco from 2004 - 2011.

The NLDS will see a matchup between two 105+ wins in a playoff series for the first time and the winner will move to play either Milwaukee, or Atlanta.

In light of the governor's announcement, Dodgers fans pondered whether they voted the right way in the recall election.

The series begins Friday night at Oracle Park.
