LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Kim Kardashian is ready to be declared legally single, but not if her estranged husband Kanye West has anything to do with it.
West, who now legally goes by Ye, filed court papers this week objecting to the fashion mogul and reality TV star’s request to have their divorce finalized by a judge.

West’s lawyer is worried Kardashian might remarry and move some of their assets to her separate accounts, according to TMZ.
His attorneys also argue in the 40-page document that several issues need to be resolved before the pair can be declared officially divorced, such as protection of joint trusts or financial accounts, even though they did sign a prenuptial agreement, according to City News Service.
West's attorneys note in the filing that “terminating marital status before custody, property and support issues are resolved creates a risk of adverse consequences,” CNS reported.
Their next hearing is slated for March 2.
West may have other motivations to stop Kardashian from becoming legally single. Over the past week, he made several posts on Instagram pleading to keep his family together while also threatening Kardashian’s current boyfriend, comedian Pete Davidson.
West has since apologized to Kardashian for the posts and has deleted them after trending on social media for what people felt was a display of emotional abuse.
The couple have been married since mid-2014, and they have four children. Kardashian filed for divorce a year ago, making it her third and West’s first.
