Police saw a group of young men go into the area around 2 a.m., according to LAPD Capitan Raul Jovel.

“They made it over the fence before officers could get to them,” he said.

Kovel said the two individuals arrested are just a couple of the many who have ended up in handcuffs recently.

“That brings the total arrest in this tower to 28,” he said.

He added that a shooting happened in the abandoned building as casings had been found in the second and third floors.

LAPD Sergeant Gordon Helper added that the building is dangerous and pretty disgusting. .

“There’s bathtubs in some of the rooms and those bathtubs are filled up with water from the rain,” he said.

Officers believe that the fence around the building is posing a new challenge in that people are trying to rush over it.

“We're here to meet that challenge though,” Helper said.

The abandoned luxury development across from Crypto.com Arena. It broke ground five years ago, but construction stopped after it ran out of money. It has since become a target for taggers and base jumpers.
