LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A flight bound for Los Angeles International Airport was diverted to Oklahoma City Thursday night after a passenger allegedly assaulted an air marshal and flight attendant.

Delta Airlines flight 342 from Washington, D.C., had to make an emergency landing shortly after 7:30 p.m. at Will Rodgers Airport in Oklahoma City. There, the passenger, identified as Ariel Pennington, 35, of D.C., was arrested according to CBS 2.

At some point during the flight, officials alleged Pennington, a music producer, became “combative” when he refused to wear a mask onboard, argued with a fellow passenger, and ultimately assaulted a flight attendant. When an air marshal intervened, Pennington assaulted the marshal as well, according to police.

Eventually the marshal was able to get Pennington onto the ground until the flight landed in Oklahoma City.

According to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, Pennington had been consuming alcohol during the flight.

Neither the attendant nor the marshal were seriously injured in the attack.

Upon arrest, Pennington was booked into Oklahoma City Jail on complaints of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Flight 342 landed safely in Los Angeles on Friday morning.
