Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu between Latigo Canyon and Corral Canyon closed in both directions Wednesday due to mud and rock slides.

It comes as Malibu Canyon Road reopened after it was closed in both directions due to a rockslide. That closure was at Corral Canyon Road in Malibu.

The closures comes as the tail end of the storm system dropped heavy rain in some areas of Southern California, even prompting a flash flood warning.

The warning was issued through 9 a.m. but has since been canceled.

As of Tuesday evening, there were 97 reported flooding incidents and 7 reports of debris and mudflow, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. There were also 126 reports of fallen trees and branches.

LAFD Captain Erik Scott told KNX News’ Jon Baird that Southern California got lucky with the storm’s impacts this time around.

“We feel very fortunate that we did not receive more mudslides or significant incidents like we did with the rain earlier this month,” he said.

The National Weather Service said this February is the fourth wettest February ever in Downtown Los Angeles. It’s tied with January 1995 for the seventh “wettest calendar month since weather records began in Downtown Los Angeles in July 1877.”
