A woman was charged on suspicion of assaulting a street vendor in downtown Los Angeles in June.
Harmunie Church was charged with felony assault with great bodily injury, aggravated battery, and vandalism in connection with the June 15th attack, according to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman.
During press conference on Monday, Hochman said it started when the two women got into an argument.
“Miss Church went ahead and violently attacked Ms. Martinez, threw her to the ground, punched her, dragged her, then vandalized her hot dog and fruit sales cart, throwing the contents into the street,” he said.
Hochman added that his office is investigating whether or not to file hate crime charges.
If convicted as charged, Church faces more than seven years in state prison.
A GoFundMe for the street vendor, identified as Arabelia Martinez, has reached over $145K as of Monday afternoon.
