Man fatally shot while walking dog in Mid-City

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A 52-year-old man was shot dead while walking his dog Saturday morning in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles.

The man and his dog were walking at approximately 5 a.m. near the corner of Genesee Avenue and Saturn Street when a dark-colored sedan approached and stopped at the northwest curb of the intersection.

A suspect gunman then got out of the car, spoke with the victim, then opened fire. After shooting the unnamed victim, the suspect got back into the car and drove northbound on Genesee Avenue.

The victim was discovered more than an hour later by a passerby who called 911.

The dog was not injured and returned home on its own, authorities said.
