On Thursday, Los Angeles Councilmember Curren Price and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation launched “Clear the Streets. Reclaim Our Neighborhoods,” an initiative aimed at clearing abandoned and inoperable vehicles on the streets of South L.A. and District 9.
“It's up to us to really encourage neighbors and say, ‘listen, you don't have to accept it,’” he told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener. “You know…there was a situation where a boat was on the yard in someone's curb like for like a month. No one called in.”
Price said enforcement starts immediately.
“We're encouraging people to start reporting today, so we want to get the action started now,” he said. “It doesn't take away from the existing program that DOT has, for example.”
Price also said this new program doesn’t interfere with LADOT’s existing program.
