One suspect arrested, two at large following shooting in Melrose District

LOS ANGELES (KNX) – One man was arrested in a shooting in the Melrose District, as police search for the other two suspects.

On April 10 around 6:00 p.m., the victim was standing in front of a clothing store on Melrose Avenue when he noticed two men looking at him as they came out from a nearby alley.

"The victim was wearing an expensive watch and felt like the men were looking at him," the department said. "The victim ran inside the business towards the backroom of the store."

The suspect fired six shots in the victim’s direction, but the victim wasn’t struck by the gunshot.

Footage obtained by the department showed the suspects walking towards the alley, and then running into the store after the victim before taking off.

One of the suspects was identified as Jamario Kevin Ray. Ray was arrested Monday and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. At the time of his arrest, he had a warrant for a parole violation. He’s being held without bail.

The second suspect is described as a male “in his twenties, stands 6 feet tall and weighs between 170-190 pounds” and was wearing a navy hooded sweatshirt, gray pants and black shoes.

A description for the third suspect was not made available.
