SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Neighbors of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were rattled by the news of the attack on Paul Pelosi inside the family's San Francisco residence.
A heavy contingent of investigators were on the scene outside of the Pelosi's residence at the affluent and upscale Pacific Heights neighborhood throughout Friday morning.
Some law enforcement officials were wearing suits, others were in jackets identifying them as FBI. Police and bomb squad officers were also on hand.
In addition, Paul Pelosi Jr., the son of Nancy and Paul Pelosi, could be seen outside the home speaking with investigators.

Authorities used caution tape to block off the sloped road at Broadway and Divisadero, where only two large residences, including the Pelosi's, are located.
The block has remained fairly quiet in terms of onlookers, though many neighbors woke up to the scene of police vehicles lining the street.
Neighbors said they were stunned by the scene.
One unidentified neighbor said she's become increasingly concerned about safety in the area.
"It's terrible. It's very scary,” she told KCBS Radio. "I saw someone suspicious out there the other morning which I told the police about."
Pantea Grover, a friend of the Pelosis, lives across the street. She said many residents have private security, but Paul Pelosi does not unless his wife is home.
"Particularly when Nancy's around, there's a lot of security. I saw her on Friday with a lot of security," she explained.
Grover, who said she knows Paul Pelosi better than Nancy Pelosi, added she was shocked to learn of the assault and hopes he recovers quickly.
"I was alone, that's the scary part and I woke up to this. It's very scary," Grover said. "He is an absolutely great guy and I hope everything is okay."
"I really don't know what to say because it's just so sad and frustrating."
Paul Pelosi is being treated for his injuries at a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, the Speaker's office said in a statement. The suspect, 42-year-old David Depape, remains in police custody after being booked on suspicion of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, elder abuse and multiple other felony charges.
