As promised, the Biden Administration has sent one an a half million dollars to Uvalde schools. The money will be used to help with the healing following the mass shooting at an elementary school there nearly 3 weeks ago.
The money is part of the Department of Education Emergency Response to Violence fund and that money will be used in a variety of ways. Some of it will
fund mental health services for students, staff and families of the shooting victims.
Some will be used to increase security at schools, and the funds will also help provide additional summer school programs for students. Part of the money may be used to tear down the Robb Elementary School where the shooting massacre happened.
“No community should have to experience a tragedy like this alone. While in Texas, I saw the Uvalde community come together in deep and meaningful ways to support one another and all the families who lost loved ones; and it is our turn to support them,” said Secretary Cardona.
“In the hours and days since that tragic day, we have committed to providing the Uvalde community with every available resource they may require from the Department. Today’s release of these emergency funds is an initial step that will be followed by technical assistance and on-the-ground supports in the months and years to come.”
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said the Biden administration is committed to providing the Uvalde community every available resource needed to help restore a sense of safety and security following the school shooting.
