The Automated People Mover is a highly anticipated new addition to LAX, so when will it open?

It’s supposed to improve the experience for travelers and is part of the $5.5 billion Landside Access Modernization Program. KNX News’ Jon Baird spoke to Dae Levine, from L.A. World Airports, about when this new addition will open.

The goal is for Metro to finish its LAX connector station late next year, and have the Automated People Mover open around the same time.

“I think it's well within the realm of possibility. Our hope is that we're going to be delivering the train, you know, about a year from now,” she said.

Levine said it's the second-largest concrete structure in the United States. A brand new rental car center will be one of the stops on the new people mover route.

“From the top there, where you arrive on the train, you can see the Hollywood sign, you can see downtown, you can see the mountains in the distance,” she said.

Levine said arrivals and departures from LAX will soon be smooth and seamless with this new addition.
