LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Sandra Martin was crossing the street in the early hours of the morning, her Chihuahua-terrier clutched to her body, when she was struck by a car and now she’s searching for her dog while police are searching for the driver that left them both in the street.
The crash was reported just before 3 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of East Fourth Street, where Martin was struck by a sedan traveling in reverse, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The 61-year-old told police she was knocked to the ground and the driver stopped and stepped out of the vehicle to pull her out from under the car, then walked back to the driver’s side. Before the man got into the car, Martin asked him if he was leaving, to which he allegedly replied, “I sure am,” police said.
The driver fled the scene without rendering aid and identifying himself. He was described to police as Black, thin build, about 170 to 190 pounds, and 25 to 30 years old.
There was no further description of the car.
Martin was taken to a local hospital where she was admitted for severe injuries that required surgery, police said.
Martin dropped her dog — a brown, long haired Chihuahua-terrier mix named “Little Man” — when she was struck and now she’s asking for the public’s help in finding him.
Anyone with information on the hit-and-run vehicle and driver or the whereabouts of the dog “Little Man” is asked to please contact LAPD Det. Juan Campos at (213) 833-3713 or email him at 31480@lapd.online.
