First, there was the news of Richard Simmons passing away on Saturday, the day after his 76th birthday. Richard Simmons helped people lose weight through exercise, most famous for his "Sweatin' to the Oldies" videos.
Iconic sex therapist Ruth Westheimer, better known as Dr. Ruth, has passed away at 96-years-old. Dr. Ruth rose to fame in the '80s giving people frank bedroom advice. According to her publicist, "She was restful when she passed away. Her son and daughter were with her and holding her hand at that moment."
Benji Gregory, the former childhood actor best known for his role as Brian Tanner on the sitcom "Alf," has died at the age of 46. He and his service dog were both found dead in a car. His sister said he had a medical condition and because of it, "He fell asleep and died from vehicular heatstroke."
Shannen Doherty, star of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed," passed away at 53 after a long battle with cancer. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, she went into remission in 2017, but the cancer returned in 2019 as stage 4 metastatic cancer. She continued working up until her death. In a January episode of her podcast Let's Be Clear, Shanned shared, "I want my remains to be mixed with my dog, and I want it to be mixed with my dad. I do not want to be buried." She then added she wanted their ashes scattered in meaningful places.
Alec Baldwin broke into tears after his involuntary manslaughter case was dropped on Friday. He was charged in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, after a gun he was handling for the movie "Rust" was discharged with live ammunition in 2021. The judge dismissed the case after it came to light that prosecutors potentially buried evidence that could've revealed how live ammunition was on the set. Alec's lawyers claim that a man connected to "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed turned over ammunition to authorities that he believed connected to the case and that prosecutors "didn't preserve those bullets…didn't collect them at all [or] turn them over."
During a celebrity charity golf tournament, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce accidentally hit a fan with a golf ball on hole 16, while taking a big swing. Paramedics quickly attended to the woman, who was struck in the back of the head, but she was able to stand after a few minutes. Travis walked down to check on her and even joked about taking a picture with her. Travis and his brother Jason Kelce, along with WWE star Mike "The Miz" Mizanin, were participating in the tournament, which also included other sports stars and celebrities like Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, and Don Cheadle.
The Kids' Choice Awards took place this weekend on Nickelodeon, hosted by SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, the first time animated characters have hosted a full-length awards show according to Nickelodeon. Taylor Swift won three awards, including Favorite Female Artist, while her boyfriend Travis Kelce took home one himself for Favorite Male Sports Star. "Barbie" won Favorite Movie, while "Young Sheldon" won Favorite Family TV. A lot of people got slimed…The Kid Laroi, Jelly Roll, Renee Rapp, Jack Black, and Henry Golding included.
Brittany Mahomes, with help from her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and their two kids, children Sterling Skye Mahomes and son Patrick Lavon Mahomes III, made the big announcement that baby #3 is on the way! Sterling Skye is three-years-old, while Patrick is just 18-months-old. The couple, who married in 2022 after a decade of dating, got a ton of love in the comments including from WNBA star Caitlin Clark and Taylor Lautner's wife, Tay Lautner. No word on any congrats from Brit's new BFF, Taylor Swift, but you can be sure Taylor is going to overload her with well wishes in the form of just about every baby gift you could possibly think of.
