On Wednesday, Johnny Depp sort of won his defamation case against ex Amber Heard. The jury mostly found in favor of Johnny, agreeing that it was defamation even though Amber didn't call him an abuser by name in her 2018 op-ed piece about domestic abuse survivors. He was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, though the $5 million was reduced to $350,000, the statutory cap in Virginia. Amber also had a partial win in her countersuit - the jury awarded her $2 million in compensatory damages.

Alicia Witt, best known as Paula from "The Walking Dead," has revealed on Instagram that she has undergone cancer treatments before finally getting a mastectomy to clear herself of cancer. Ramona Singer from the "Real Housewives of New York City" shared a video on her Instagram story showing off "the most exotic, glamorous wedding invitation" she says she's ever received, but eagle-eyed fans noticed it showed the secret wedding date and venue of one Teresa Giudice and Luis "Louie" Ruelas' ceremony. The Lucite invitation came in a box filled with white flowers, and it read that the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star will become Mrs. Ruelas at the Park Chateau Estate in East Brunswick, New Jersey on August 6th. Ramona deleted the video not too long after she posted it, and her rep said she has apologized to Teresa for the mistake. Unfortunately, the couple's wedding website and password were also on the invitation, but it was deactivated shortly after the post. Before it came down, fans used the info to figure out some of the other invitees included Margaret Josephs, Jackie Goldschneider, Jennifer Aydin, and Dolores Cantania, according to Page Six.

Though Johnny Depp was not present in the courtroom, he released a statement after the verdict was read. He said, "Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me, were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye. False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career. Showing his appreciation to the jury, he said, "And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled. My decision to pursue this case, knowing very well the height of the legal hurdles that I would be facing and the inevitable, worldwide spectacle into my life, was only made after considerable thought." He said he felt "at peace" after being able to speak his truth, adding, "I also hope that the position will now return to innocent until proven guilty, both within the courts and in the media. The best is yet to come and a new chapter has finally begun. Veritas numquam perit. Truth never perishes."
Amber Heard also released a statement, telling Extra, "The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband." She went on, "I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously. I believe Johnny's attorneys succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of Freedom of Speech and ignore evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the U.K.," She added, "I'm sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American — to speak freely and openly."

Amy Schumer was attacked by Johnny Depp's fans for seemingly defending Amber Heard after the jury sided with him. Just after the verdict came in on Wednesday, Amy took to social media to quote famed feminist writer and activist Gloria Steinem, writing, "Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that the armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke . . . She will need her sisterhood." Assuming she was talking about Amber, the throngs attacked, according to Radar. They were writing things like, "There was no evidence that she was abused but there were 'mountains' of evidence that he was!," "I truly hope this is not speaking to what I think it is. Cause yikes," "She lied. Blatantly. Several times," and "Unless she lies. Then she does damage to the sisterhood." Amy hasn't responded to any of those. It's worth noting that it was Amy's birthday, so maybe that's why she chose to ignore all the responses.
Johnny Depp wasn't present at the reading of the verdict, choosing instead to hang out in the UK performing two music shows. His ex, Kate Moss even showed up for his performance. Amber's team made it clear how they felt about that. A spokesperson for Amber told Radaronline.com, "Your presence shows where your priorities are. Johnny Depp plays guitar in the UK while Amber Heard waits for a verdict in Virginia. Depp is taking his snickering and lack of seriousness on tour." His team, however said ahead of the verdict, "Due to previously scheduled work commitments made before the trial, Mr. Depp will not be physically present for today's 3pm verdict," insisting, he "will be watching from the United Kingdom."
In the meantime, a petition calling for Amber Heard's removal from "Aquaman 2" hit nearly 5 million signatures hours before the jury in her defamation case announced the verdict. On top of that, many fans have suggested Camille Vasquez replace Amber as Mera in "Aquaman 2," with some sharing a photoshopped image of Camille in the role. Of all the wild and wacky things to come out of the trial, this has got to be it.
