Dina's Dirt for May 5, 2023

A jury has found Ed Sheeran not liable in the copyright infringement lawsuit where he stood accused of using the "heart" of Marvin Gaye's hit "Let's Get It On" in his hit "Thinking Out Loud." After less than three hours of deliberation, the jury reached a unanimous verdict, which was required for this case. When the verdict was read, Ed immediately hugged his lawyers as his wife and co-writer wiped away tears. Afterwards, Ed said, "I'm obviously very happy with the outcome of the case, and it looks like I'm not having to retire from my day job, after all." He added, "I'm just a guy with a guitar who loves writing music for people to enjoy. I am not and will never allow myself to be a piggy bank for anyone to shake."

For a lot of people, meeting Lizzo would be a dream come true, but for Lizzo meeting her inspiration was like that. She shared a video of herself performing alongside her longtime idol and flute legend James Galway. Lizzo explained, "When I was 11 years old and learning the flute I needed a challenge from my 5th grade level studies. So I found 'The Man with the Golden Flute' by James Galway and it changed the trajectory of my life." Her parents noticed how seriously she was taking her flute lessons, so they paid for her to get lessons from university-level teachers, according to nme.com, and the rest is history. Unfortunately, some fans had to miss out on her flute-playing and singing the other night since Lizzo had to cancel her concert in Montreal because she's sick. Her next show is scheduled for Saturday in Connecticut, but it's still unclear if she'll be well enough to perform, TMZ reports.

Real-life couple Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra share a make-out scene in her new rom-com "Love Again." But it all came about because of Priyanka, People reports.  She was supposed to shoot a make-out scene "with a random actor," but since filming happened during COVID, she wasn't comfortable with it. She explained, "During COVID, having someone just lick my face, I was not about it. So I was like, 'Please, Nick, could you do it?' And he was such a sport."

After ten years, you'd think a series would be given a chance to go out the way the writers wanted it to. But showrunners of "The Goldbergs" revealed they weren't given a chance to wrap things up the way they'd intended, because they didn't even know the series was wrapping up. Wednesday night's episode was the end. Alex Barnow said, "We weren't quite positive it was going to be our finale when we wrote the final episode of the season. I think, truthfully, had we known it was really the final episode, we would have done a more full-bodied tribute to the show" and "dug in with a more emotional story."

The Writers Guild of America is on strike, and they expect "Wednesday" star Jenna Ortega to join them, avclub.com reports. You might remember she said in an interview earlier this year, "There were times on that set where I almost became unprofessional in a sense, where I just started changing lines… I would have to sit down with the writers…and explain why I couldn't do certain things." Apparently, the writers haven't forgotten about that, and one writer tweeted about her Met Gala appearance, "Jenna Ortega better be back from NY for her afternoon shift on the picket line," Another retweeted, adding, "Rewriting is writing! See you at the line, Jenna!" One even held a sign at the picket line, which read, "Without writers, Jenna Ortega will have nothing to punch up!"

Khloe Kardashian has finally announced her baby boy's name, nine months later. The son that she shares with Tristan Thompson is named...Tatum Robert. Khloe shared last month that - like her firstborn daughter True - she had decided to give her son a name beginning with T. Apparently, the hesitation in officially naming him was due in part to deciding what order the names would come in - Robert as a first name, to honor her father and brother, or as a middle name - which the couple eventually went with.

For some reason, and no one knows why, fans of BTS have been showing their love for Jung Kook by having food delivered to his home address.
He has publically begged them to stop, saying, "Don't send home delivery food. I won't eat it even if you give it to me. I'm thankful, but I eat well. You can buy it [for] yourself." He added, "I beg you…If you send it one more time, I will check the receipt order number you sent and take action. So stop."

Pete Davidson is sharing the sad news that his young dog died. He told his fans, "Yesterday we lost a key member of the Davidson family. Henry was only 2 years old but unfortunately got very sick very fast. My mom, sister and I are broken and will miss him forever. We love you Henry. Thank you for making our lives fuller and reminding me what actually matters." Henry was a big fan of Pete and got excited when he came on the TV.

All the final preparations are being wrapped up for the coronation of King Charles, and just days before the event the world will tune in to see, someone decided to mow a special design into the lawn of one of the areas that will be the setting for one of the parties. The lawn now has a design, a very giant one, let's just say in biological terms, this lawn's a male. It appeared yesterday morning. Hopefully, they find a fix real fast, or someone's going to need to scout a new location fast.
