Orlovsky: 'Wentz will not take another snap for Eagles'

Carson Wentz's biggest public supporter and former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky had a bold claim about Wentz's status in Philadelphia.

"Carson Wentz won't take another snap for the Philadelphia Eagles ever again," Orlovsky said on Monday's Get Up show on ESPN. "He can't and he shouldn't. This is going to be a divorce. It's gonna be pricey and it's gonna be an impactful one. I said last week, I don't see—if Jalen Hurts continues to play good football—how you could have both of them on your football team next year. After yesterday, you can't.

"I want everyone to understand, quarterbacks are very different," he continued. "We're different people. Like, when we walk out onto the field, that's my football team. That's my huddle. Those are my guys. Jalen Hurts ain't giving that up. I just don't see Jalen Hurts giving this up. And it doesn't seem like Carson Wentz is able to get that, like to get that. This is a great opportunity for him to watch that off the field stuff that Jalen Hurts excels at and how he can learn from it, I just don't think it will be in Philadelphia."

After Hurts' second straight exciting and productive performance at QB, despite a losing effort on Sunday vs. the Cardinals, the conversation about what the Eagles' should do at QB after this season is heating up. ESPN reported over the weekend that Wentz will likely look to find a new team if Hurts is named the long-term starter.

In just his second NFL start, Hurts dazzled completing 24 of 44 passes for 338 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no turnovers while rushing for another 63 yards and a score in a 33-26 loss.

Doug Pederson praised Hurts on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show.

"I saw a guy that did play well," Pederson told Angelo Cataldi of Hurts. "I saw a guy that led the football team. I saw a guy that played tough physically and mentally. But at the end, we didn't do enough to win. He's such a great competitor that he wanted the ball in his hands at the end, and we didn't get it done. One thing I appreciate about Jalen is how humble he stays and just his demeanor and takes a lot of responsibility and ownership of that and very mature that way. But overall I thought he did some very good things, leading us back really from 16 points down to really put us in a position to take that game over."
