Maybe the Eagles won’t hire Josh McDaniels after all.
With plenty of buzz circulating that the team is close to hiring McDaniels, the Eagles will spend Tuesday interviewing Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, according to an ESPN report.
Sirianni, 39-years old, has coached in the NFL since 2009, spending time with the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers and the Colts.
Here are three things to know about Sirianni:
*** The Colts’ offense has had plenty of success with Sirianni as offensive coordinator, finishing in the top 10 twice — 5th in 2018 and 9th in 2020. They were also top-10 in yards twice.
*** Sirianni did not call plays with the Colts, as head coach Frank Reich handled the play calling. That could be a concern for the Eagles, although Reich did not call plays in Philadelphia, and has done an excellent job with the Colts.
*** Sirianni coached both quarterbacks and wide receivers prior to being named the Colts’ offensive coordinator in 2018. That will be attractive to the Eagles, as they are in desperate need of a head coach that is able to come in and fix their quarterback position, whether it is Carson Wentz or Jalen Hurts.
