Philadelphia Eagles radio color commentator Mike Quick is taking the optimistic angle on Jalen Hurts' injury, actually saying that a short rest for a relatively non-serious injury could be a "gift."
"I don't know if it's not a gift, quite honestly." Quick told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Tuesday's 94WIP Midday Show. "If Hurts gets a little bit of time off and he's fully healthy, say next week or even the week after, I don't know if it's not a gift. These NFL seasons they're so hard on the body, they just wear you down. The Eagles, the way they practice is very, very smart. They give guys day off like all the time...They understand what it takes what it gets these guys ready to perform at their peak when it is game day. I don't think that this is as bad as many people think that it is. I just think if he gets a week off and I'm hoping that it's not more than a week—if it's a week of and then he is back 100-percent, I think that it is a gift."
"Hey, I got to look at this thing the right way," Quick continued. "I don't think he'll be out two weeks, I really don't. The fact that he was able to finish the game, I think that says a whole lot."
Nick Sirianni confirmed on Tuesday's 94WIP Morning Show that Hurts has a sprained right shoulder, but said it is "not something we deem to be long-term."
Hurts injured his shoulder during the third quarter of Sunday's win against the Bears, on this play.
If Gardner Minshew is forced to start, Sirianni said Minshew will be ready to roll.
"If he has to go, we'll have 100-percent confidence in him because he can ball...He's a winner and that's all he knows how to do."
