Giglio: Eagles should concede NFC East to Cowboys and rest starters

Should the Philadelphia Eagles rest their starters on Sunday vs. the Giants? Joe Giglio says yes.

"They need a break more than they need a victory on Sunday," Giglio said at the beginning of Friday's 94WIP Midday Show with Hugh Douglas. "If I'm Nick Sirianni—actually forget that. If I'm Howie Roseman and I'm Jeff Lurie, I'm making the phone call to Nick this morning and I'm saying, 'Nick, we're taking the starters off of the field. We're not playing. This is a bye week.'

"And I'll say it this way. I'll concede the East to the Cowboys...Dallas is not losing to Washington. I just don't think there is almost any chance that happens. So I think this game on Sunday [vs. the Giants] is basically meaningless...That MetLife turf up there is a terrible field. Aaron Rodgers lasted three plays. I have a defensive line that's played like 200 more snaps than last year, they're tired Hugh! And I need to give them a rest on Sunday."

The scenario is this: The Eagles will be the No. 5 seed in the NFC Playoffs unless they beat the Giants and the Cowboys lose at the Commanders (both games are at 4:25pm E.T.). An Eagles win and Cowboys loss would give Philadelphia their second straight division title, but more importantly, home games in the NFC Wildcard and Divisional playoff rounds.

The 11-5 Cowboys are massive 13-point road favorites at the Commanders, while the 11-5 Birds are 5.5-point road favorites at the Giants.

If the Cowboys win and the Eagles are the No. 5 seed, they will go on the road to face the NFC South division winner in the Wildcard round next weekend.

On Tuesday, Nick Sirianni told the 94WIP Morning Show that the team was still considering all of their options, in terms of resting the starters.
