Seth Joyner is laying down the "gauntlet," challenging Howard Eskin to a live football debate on 94WIP after Eskin called out Joyner earlier this week.

"First of all, you can agree with somebody or disagree with somebody without being disrespectful," Joyner said on Thursday's 94WIP Midday Show. "See, there's a side of me that I try to keep in, that since I retired a lot people don't get to see. But the old me would've came right down the station and just kicked his ass as soon as he came out of the booth because you don't be disrespectful to people. You can have an opinion without being disrespectful. You don't disrespect somebody who played 13 years in the National Football League about their football acumen. I've forgotten more football than Howard Eskin will ever remember or ever know, because everything he knows somebody told him. He didn't study it, he didn't experience, somebody told him, OK? So to put this to rest once for and all, this is a gauntlet that I'm laying down today—a football debate challenge on WIP, turn on the cameras in the room, whiteboard in the room, you name the place and you name the time. We'll put this together once and for all, alright?"

This feud started when Joyner adamantly stated the Eagles need to run the football more after their loss to the Jets in Week 6.

"Look at all the good football teams in the National Football League," Joyner said on Monday, October 16th one day after the Eagles' loss to the Jets. "The one thing that they do efficiently is that they run the football because it gives their quarterback the best chance for success. I don't care if you're talking about Patrick Mahomes, I don't care if you're talking about Tua Tagovailoa, I don't care who you're talking about. They win because they run the ball efficiently."

Eskin strongly disagrees with Joyner's philosophy.

"I also want to straighten out one of your friends, Hugh. I am so tired, 'Well, you got to run the ball,' Eskin said on Tuesday's 94WIP Midday Show.

"All this, 'Run the football' nonsense is just total nonsense. And Seth Joyner put out the most bogus stat, bogus! I can't believe he was a former football player. He's masquerading as a former football player. He says yesterday...the top three teams in football, they all lead the league 1-2-3 in rushing. Why do they lead the league? Because they're teams that get leads and when they get leads they run the ball. It's such a ridiculous, asinine, phony stat, stop it!"

Eskin responded to Joyner's challenge.

"When did he play, 60 years ago?" Eskin said in response on Thursday's 94WIP Midday Show. "I don't respond to people who don't understand the way the game is played today...It's not the same game. One year it's like, 'Blitz, blitz, blitz, blitz!' Stop. Just all this nonsense. Buddy Ryan is not the coach, he was idiot. He was his coach, he was an idiot, may he rest in peace."

This isn't the first time Joyner and Eskin have gotten into it.
