Latest Eagles salary cap space new Isaac Seumalo deal

The Eagles have restructured the deal of offensive guard Isaac Seumalo, according to an NFL Network report.

The new deal will save the Eagles around $2.4 million in salary cap space for the 2021 season, and although it will increase Seumalo's cap hits down the road, it should't have much of an impact on the cap in the future.

This is the second year in a row that Seumalo has agreed to a new deal in order to help the Eagles open up cap space. Seumalo had just one year remaining on his contract, so chances are this new deal will add a few more bogus years on the end to help spread out the cap hits.

With Seumalo's deal done the Eagles are now around $29 million over the cap. That number should change quickly, however, as new deals are expected for Lane Johnson and Brandon Graham. The duo have a combined cap hit of just under $36 million.

It will be interesting to see how far into the future the Eagles want to commit to Johnson and Graham, but it is possible they wipe out most of the $29 million remaining by redoing just those two contracts.

Other moves coming that could open up space is the release of Zach Ertz, receiver Marquis Goodwin and possibly a new deal for Derek Barnett.

The Eagles have to be under the cap, which is expected to be around $182 million, by March 17th at 4 p.m. EST.
