FanDuel sportsbook tweeted an explosive trade proposal that would send Juan Soto to the Philadelphia Phillies, but for an expensive price.
Here is the trade:
The Phillies are giving up four of their top 27 prospects in this proposed trade, but notably two of the top 100 prospects in all of baseball, in RHP Andrew Painter and OF Justin Crawford.
A lot of Phillies fans were not into the proposed trade on Twitter, judging by the replies.
Soto took a plane back to Philadelphia from the All-Star game in Seattle with the Phillies, as the Padres began a four-game set at Citizens Bank Park to start the second half of the season. Furthermore, according to Jon Heyman, the Phillies are the frontrunner to land Soto in 2025 free-agency period.
“They’re well out of it at this point. They’re way back,” Audacy MLB insider Jon Heyman said Monday on The Mully & Haugh Show of the San Diego Padres. “They really do not want to sell, they sold out – in terms of their seats – for the year, basically. The fans are excited and they’re doing everything they can to stay in it. Right now, they’ve been talking to teams about getting bullpen help and maybe a bat, but, ultimately, let’s say they go 3-7 or something like that over the next 10, they may have to face reality."
The MLB trade deadline is Tuesday, August 1st.
