The Philadelphia Phillies continue to deal with COVID-19 challenges.
The team placed relievers Bailey Falter and JD Hammer on the COVID injured list shortly before Tuesday’s game against the Yankees.
Reliever Mauricio Llovera and outfielder Mickey Moniak were recalled from Lehigh Valley to get to New York to replace them on the roster.
Aaron Nola, Tuesday night’s starter, was making his first appearance since he was scratched from his start prior to the All-Star break as one of four Phillies to be placed on the COVID IL.
Nola, who is unvaccinated, was considered a close contact with Alec Bohm.
The Phillies have yet to reach the 85% vaccine threshold required to loosen protocols, and a story in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Tuesday revealed that half the team has refused to take the vaccine, which has ownership and management “exasperated.”
