If you’re looking for something to take your mind of vaccines, viruses and pandemics, look no further than the hatching of two bald eagle chicks in Big Bear, California.

Jackie laid her eggs in early February, and the Big Bear Bald Eagle camera has been trained on her and her mate, Shadow, as they take turns watching over the nest.

Thursday, one of the eggs began to crack slightly, and the camera was there to catch all of the action.

"We've just been watching them. We do research on them. We've done some writing. The kids drew pictures of them and so we've had a good time with them," Santa Susana Elementary School teacher Nancy Lachman told KABC-7.

"They are just so excited to make sure that those eggs are going to hatch eventually so it's been a wonderful experience for them," educator Victoria Hartkop says.

The Big Bear Bald Eagle cam reads: "Their 2nd clutch is here! 1st egg laid on February 8th, the 2nd egg laid on February 11th. Pip watch will begin on March 15th. Jackie, the female always incubates overnight, Shadow, the male sleeps in nearby roost trees."
