Younger children could begin to be vaccinated by late spring or early summer - that's the hope from the Biden administration, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci on Friday.

"The government’s top public health expert says clinical studies to determine whether approved coronavirus vaccines are safe for younger children will begin in the “next couple of months," according to an AP story.

President Joe Biden has indicated he wants to vaccinate 300 million Americans by the end of summer and is hoping the administration can boost vaccine purchases. Right now, the state and LA County is vaccinating its older residents. At the moment Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are being used to vaccinate Americans.

Fauci has also said the COVID-19 variants in South Africa, the UK and Brazil may eventually outnumber the original COVID-19 virus.

"We will continue to see the evolution of mutants," Fauci, the nation's leading infectious diseases expert, said Friday, to CBS News.
