Melissa McCarthy got the full Australian experience after she was bitten by an unknown creature, and faced some "itchy" consequences.
The “Bridesmaids” star, 50, shared a video with her 9.1 million Instagram on Tuesday, and later spoke about her experience in an issue of InStyle magazine, Today reported.
“After professing my love of Australian critters to @instylemagazine , I was quickly reminded by someone that I was conveniently forgetting the aftermath of some of those ‘magical’ bites...,” the comedian captioned the video.
“I love that all the bugs and creatures will kill you,” McCarthy joked. The video then cuts to her in recovering in bed with a white towel draped over her forehead and wrapped around each of her hands.
“And I love that I’ve seen a spider the size of my head,” the actress said sarcastically alongside a photo of a giant huntsman spider splashed across the screen. “That’s a huntsman. I found it magical.”
Another voice off-screen explains, "She's in hand jail."
The comedian later yells “I’m itchy. Pretty puffy, guys. G’day mate” while the video shifts back to her in bed.
McCarthy was visiting Australia last fall to shoot the new Hulu drama series “Nine Perfect Strangers.” The show, which stars Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman, is based on a 2018 novel of the same name that follows the lives of nine people attending a pricey 10-day wellness retreat run by a mysterious Russian woman named Masha.
A release date for the show has not yet been announced.
