Summer is still here, but you may want to get a head start on your holiday shopping plans.

According to Good Morning America, mail carrier companies across the United States have revealed new prices, which take effect in several months.
The United States Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS just announced interim peak surcharges with payments coming in the fall of 2021.
FedEx: $1.50 per piece price hike for Ground Economy packages.
USPS: .25 cent to $5.00 increase depending on product and weight.
Both of these charges will happen between October 2021 and January 2022.
The new price increases come a year and a half into the COVID-19 pandemic. Postal services dealt with increased demand and labor shortages after customers were forced to do more online shopping.
Hitha Herzog, chief research officer for H Squared Research, said this is happening because it’s difficult for retailers to get their products to stores.
“The real challenge comes from how the products are getting to the stores,” she said. “There aren’t enough truck drivers -- there’s not enough cargo trains, so it becomes a logistics issue.”
Want to avoid this mess? Herzog said the best way to prevent trouble shipping this holiday season is to plan and buy early.
