Just when you thought Taco Bell's $1 menu couldn’t get any better, the fast food franchise is here to prove you wrong.
The chain announced it's testing new dollar menu items in select markets.
If the items gauge enough interest from Taco Bell lovers, they’ll likely be rolled out nationwide.
In Columbus, Ohio, the chain is testing Spicy Tacos. Per Delish, they consist of a warm flour tortilla, seasoned beef, lettuce, cheddar cheese, and your choice of bold spicy sauce that include mild jalapeño, medium chipotle, and white hot ranch. While it may not sound like it, white hot ranch is the spiciest of the three as it’s made with ghost chili peppers and creamy buttermilk.
The $1 Primo Burritos are being tested in Kansas City, MO. Customers can choose between a Loaded Taco Primo Burrito made with a flour tortilla and filled with seasoned beef, crunchy red strips, lettuce, reduced fat sour cream, and cheddar cheese or a Chicken Enchilada Primo Burrito made with white meat chicken, reduced fat sour cream, seasoned rice, enchilada sauce, and cheddar cheese in a flour tortilla.
Those who opt for the second option will pay a bit more as it costs $1.49.
These aren’t the only items being tested in various markets.
Stacked Bowls have the option of beef taco, avocado ranch chicken, and steak topped with a blend of lettuce and crunchy purple cabbage. It's being tested in Portland, OR.
Grilled Cheese Stacker is being tested in Houston, TX, and includes a flour tortilla with seasoned beef, a three-cheese blend, and nacho cheese sauce folded into Taco Bell's signature stacker tri-fold and topped with grilled cheese.
The Chicken Enchilada Grilled Cheese Burrito tested in Cleveland, OH has lour tortilla filled with chicken, rice, a three-cheese blend, crunchy red strips, enchilada sauce, sour cream, and topped with a layer of grilled cheese.
Now, that’s a lot of options.
If you don’t live in any of the markets, don’t worry because Taco Bell has added some fan-favorites back to the menu.
After plenty of public outcry, the chain announced the return of potato items on March 11, 2021.
Both the Spicy Fiesta Soft Taco & Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes will return after being booted from the menu in August.
And after five years of not being on the menu, Taco Bell is officially bringing back the Quesalupa.
The Quesalupa features a chalupa shell with melted pepper jack and mozzarella cheese. In addition to the cheesy taste, the taco shell includes lettuce, beef, tomatoes, sour cream, and of course, more cheese. Vegetarians have the option of swapping out the meat for black beans. It also returned to the menu on March 11.
