A Florida woman who pretended to be a licensed plastic surgeon was arrested after performing a nose surgery on a man that claims his face was left disfigured.
The woman, 56-year-old Alcalira Jimenez De Rodriguez, was arrested last Thursday while conducting a different procedure on another individual, reported KIRO7.
Vincenzo Zurlo contacted police in mid-February after finding out Jimenez De Rodriguez wasn’t licensed to practice medicine in Florida, including the $2,000 rhinoplasty surgery on Feb. 15, 2020 that he says left his face disfigured.
The man returned for a follow-up rhinoplasty procedure on May 30, 2020, for which he paid $800.
He was awake for both surgeries, police said.
Jimenez De Rodriguez was booked by police after an undercover officer met with her for a consultation to discuss a potential procedure, reports NBC Miami.
Zurlo said he knew something was wrong when he complained about the procedure to the woman, and she prescribed him painkillers and antibiotics under another physician’s name.
"She cannot do my nose right, she prescribed me the medication from another doctor, she cannot find a solution to my pain so something is wrong, something has to be wrong," Zurlo said. "She was the one that with that surgery that day, she ruined my life."
Jimenez De Rodriguez was charged with practicing medicine without a license and being held on bond at Miami-Dade County Jail.
