Bob Myers to launch new podcast next week with Steph Curry as first guest

Maybe all that airtime on 95.7 The Game rubbed off on Bob Myers.

The Warriors president of basketball operations/general manager will be launching a new podcast “Lead by Example” with Omaha Productions and ESPN next Tuesday, with superstar Steph Curry as his first guest.

Myers, who makes bi-weekly appearances on 95.7 The Game’s “The Executive Show” with “Steiny & Guru,” has been candid over the years about the thinking of the Warriors front office.

With Myers’ move, Golden State is becoming the podcast capital of the NBA world. Draymond Green recently started Season 2 of his “The Draymond Green Show” while Andre Iguodala is still producing his “Point Forward” podcast with co-host and former NBA player Evan Turner.

Myers is talkative and media savvy, so this should be an easy transition for him. But it will be interesting to see him as the interviewer rather than the interviewee. He's also doing business with ESPN, which is notable, while Omaha Productions was founded by NFL legend Peyton Manning.

The 47-year-old previously served as a radio commentator for his alma mater UCLA Bruins basketball team for two seasons, but the school wanted him to quit due to conflict of interest, as he worked for agent Arn Tellem at the time.

Myers joined the Warriors in 2011 before taking over as general manager in 2012. Golden State owner Joe Lacob recently told The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami that Myers has rebuffed two extension offers, as his current deal is set to expire in the summer. Perhaps Myers is showing Lacob that he has other lucrative options in the media as an avenue to advance his career.

The architect of four title-winning teams in the past eight seasons, Myers is a two-time NBA Executive of the Year. He also spent 14 years as a sports agent, so he knows the industry in a multitude of ways.

Other future guests include Warriors coach Steve Kerr, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski, Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon, Charles Barkley and WNBA legend Maya Moore among others. Proceeds from the podcast will go to benefit the Warriors Community Fund.
