Draymond Green couldn’t hold it in.
After picking up a pair of technical fouls just minutes apart, the Warriors star was ejected in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers. Green initially was T’d up at the 8:24 mark of the final period when he disagreed with a shooting foul he received while closing out on Bennedict Mathurin.
Draymond couldn’t let the call go, as he continued to bark at the refs while JaMychal Green was at the free throw line with 8:10 left in the game, before getting his second tech. The Warriors eventually lost 125-119 to the Pacers.
It’s been an emotional road trip for Draymond so far. The ejection came night after a some spicy exchanges with the referees in Milwaukee, when he also had a fan ejected from his courtside seat after apparent threats to his life.
Green has already piled up nine technical fouls this season in just 29 games. Once he reaches 16 techs in the regular season, Green will be automatically suspended for the next game. Draymond is usually aware of his season-long tech count and can usually cool down once he hits 14 or 15, but he’ll have to be judicious with his outbursts for the rest of the season.
The Warriors have been clashing with refs all season long, as they entered the contest with the second-most fouls called on them per game (22.5) but opponents have the least fouls called on them per game (18.4).
Green's ejection left Golden State very shorthanded, as Steph Curry suffered a left shoulder injury in the third quarter that caused him to exit early.
