Tuesday night was “perfect” according to Steve Kerr. Steph Curry set the all-time NBA 3-time record in front of his parents, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller and a breathless crowd at Madison Square Garden.

But as Warriors forward Draymond Green reflected on the historic night, he pointed out one thing he wished was different.

“The only thing missing for me is Klay not being here,” Green told reporters, via Zoom. “Just the long travel to get here, Klay was a huge part of that. If anything could have been different, it was that. Other than that, very, very, very special night for a special person, a special player.”

Klay Thompson is currently in Santa Cruz rehabbing with the team’s G League Warriors alongside second-year center James Wiseman. Green said Thompson may have been able to FaceTime into the locker room after the game, but it wasn’t the same without the second Splash Brother.

“I heard somebody say he was on FaceTime, but just wish he could have been here,” Green said. “Because it was a very special moment and he played as big a part in that as anybody. Don’t mean to sound somber, as it’s incredible, but do wish he was here.”

Green, Curry and Thompson have formed a special bond during their decade together as teammates, the cornerstones of a dynasty that has produced three NBA titles so far.

President of basketball operations and general manager Bob Myers told 95.7 The Game Tuesday morning that the Warriors “haven’t even decided internally” when Thompson will come return. Klay is currently focused on building up his endurance to get back into NBA game shape.

A few weeks ago, The Athletic reported Thompson could return as soon as the next homestand, when Golden State hosts the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 20 and the Memphis Grizzlies on Dec. 23. The next home dates would be on Dec. 28 versus the Denver Nuggets and Jan. 3 against the Miami Heat.

Thompson and Curry haven’t shared the backcourt since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, but the day is coming soon.

"His jersey was in the locker room next to mine," Curry said. "It'll be good to get back and celebrate with him and, obviously, hopefully celebrate his return soon. I represent both the Splash Brothers in how we approach the game, for sure."
