Even in garbage time of Monday night’s 126-95 Warriors blowout of the Orlando Magic, Steph Curry kept chucking up 3-pointers.
The Dubs superstar is closing in on Ray Allen’s all-time regular-season record of 2,973. Following Monday’s performance, when he went 7-of-12 from 3-point range, Curry (2,958) needs just 15 more 3-pointers to tie Allen.
Curry is a showman, so you know he’d love to clinch the record at home. But the Warriors only have one game left on the current homestand -- Wednesday’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers -- before heading east on a five-game road trip.
So, does Warriors coach Steve Kerr think Curry can break the record in front of the fans at Chase Center Wednesday?
“Absolutely,” Kerr told reporters after Monday’s win. “He’s Steph Curry, so anything’s possible.”
If Curry exploded for 16 3-pointers, he would break teammate Klay Thompson’s NBA single-game record of 14 made threes, which he set against the Chicago Bulls in 2018.

In all likelihood, Curry is more likely to set it on the road trip, as the Warriors will travel to face the Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. But, hey, never put anything past Steph.
“He’s got the greatest combination of humility and arrogance that I’ve ever seen,” Kerr said. “It’s a beautiful, perfect combination for a star athlete. The arrogance of knowing he’s the best player on the floor and the humility that makes everyone want to be around him and on his team.”
