49ers unveil new uniforms with saloon font, classic three-stripe look

The 49ers’ slightly revamped 2022 jerseys will pay homage to the franchise’s storied history.

On Monday morning, the Niners released images of their new unis, which restore the classic three-stripe look on the sleeve and includes a new saloon font “49ers” patch below the neckline. The 49ers saloon font logo has also been restored to the back of the helmet.

Linebacker Fred Warner modeled the new threads in videos published by the team on Twitter.

It’s a look that the franchise made famous from the 1950s until about five years ago when the team went two a two-stripe look. It’s a subtle change, but this seems like it hits the sweet spot for the history-rich 49ers.

That saloon font is iconic and you can’t help but think of those gold satin jackets, the Super Bowls, or even superfans like Banjo Man when you see it. In highlights of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice in their heyday – they always had the classic three stripes on the sleeves.

The jerseys have been well-received by the 49ers Faithful on social media, but they also used the tweet as a launching point to voice their opinions about the Deebo Samuel situation ahead of John Lynch’s scheduled press conference on Monday afternoon.
