Special teamer Trenton Cannon went down with a scary injury in the 49ers’ 30-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, but flew home Monday after being discharged from the hospital. Coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Cannon is in concussion protocol.

Shanahan also shared some more encouraging injury news, as wide receiver Deebo Samuel (groin) and linebacker Fred Warner (hamstring) could return in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals after missing Sunday’s contest.

“Fred was closer than Deebo was last week, so I expect to get Fred back at practice this Wednesday,” Shanahan said, via 49ers communications. “Deebo, we'll go day-to-day with him. I'm hoping to get him back this week, but it's still too early to tell.”

Samuel leads the 49ers with 10 touchdowns (five rushing, five receiving) while ranking fourth in the NFL with 1,006 receiving yards. Warner has totaled a team-best 92 tackles, according to NFL.com.

In terms of bad news, cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is expected to miss “several weeks” with a high ankle sprain. The 49ers (6-6) have five regular-season games remaining. The 49ers are thin at corner and will need to rely on rookies Deommodore Lenoir and Ambry Thomas to step up alongside veterans Josh Norman and Dontae Johnson.

The running back position continues to deal with injuries as well, as Elijah Mitchell is concussion protocol and Jeff Wilson Jr. who is dealing with a knee issue that “flares up,” occasionally, according to Shanahan.
