City officials are preparing for San Francisco to move to the state's orange tier for reopening as soon as next Wednesday.
Mayor London Breed made the announcement on Twitter.
That means an easing restrictions, which include capacity increases for retail, dining, gyms and other businesses. The orange tier also allows for outdoor-only service at bars and additional youth sports.
As of Thursday, San Mateo County is the only in the Bay Area in the orange tier.
Breed also shared some exciting news about Opening Day in San Francisco.
"For all you baseball fans, we’re working with the Giants about details for Opening Day and we'll have more info for you soon," she tweeted.
Ballparks, theme parks and stadiums in California are eligible to open for outdoor use with COVID-19 capacity restrictions beginning April 1. San Francisco currently sits in the state's red tier, which allows for only 20% fan capacity at games. If the city were to move to the less restrictive orange tier, capacity increases to 33%.
